The History of the SPAMfritter Mini Club.
The Club Formed in October 2004 in Turin. SPAMfritter Mini Club
was a group of Italian Job participants having a celebration meal together
at the Emilio Rosso Hotel.
The original club members are:
David and Mary Bainbridge (from Australia)
Phil Donnell (from Plymouth)
Andy McConaghy (from Plymouth)
Dawn Turpin (from Hampshire)
Mike and Pam Robinson (from Aberdeen)
Phil's car was sponsored by Francine's Fish and Chip Shop in Plymouth who was the champion Spamfritter cook of the year for two years in a row. The group joked about setting up a SPAMfritter Mini Club with Phil as "El Presidente" - and so the club was conceived!
The group of original members have met up in Plymouth, the Lake District and in Scotland and keep in touch via email.
In 2006 a group of Mini enthusiasts with Phil decided to start the SPAMfritter Mini Club in Plymouth. Initially the club met at the Elburton Hotel and then moved to the Billacombe Tavern in July 2007. Unfortunately the Billacombe closed in July 2008 so the club meet moved again to the Morley Arms.
The Club continues to grow and develop with classic and new Mini owners
as members. Members are attending shows and events throughout the year as
well as meeting weekly for a social get together.
